My mom now has a site (Margaret Fletcher) Please visit Thank you xxxxxxxxxx.
Mervyn Samuel Fletcher was born on 28th April 1935. Mervyn was murdered in a street robbery on the
20th October 2004 aged 69 years.
Mervyn owned and ran a small lock factory H.E.Fletcher in New Invention,Willenhall, the village he
lived his whole life in.
He ran the business with his brother Harold.Mervyn was the youngest child of Samuel Fletcher and
Ruth Clewley. As well as his brother Harold, Mervyn had twin sisters Joy and Jean.
Mervyn married My mom Margaret in 1957,Margaret died in 1991 aged 55 years, following a brave battle
with cancer.
They had two daughters Theresa and myself Sonia. Also four beautiful grandchildren.
Mervyn now has two new grandchildren Twins Maisie and Finnlay born on the 30th of December
2007.Maisie and Finnlay my children will never meet their wonderful grandad because of that MONSTER
!!!!
Mervyn was stolen from us in a most violent and cowardly way.He was beaten to death outside his own
home and left to die in his garden all for the sake of his wallet. If only that was the only thing
that was stolen that night............
Mervyn was the kindest most gentle man you could ever wish to meet.
He was a true gentleman and was loved by all who knew him.
Update 30/03/07 At 2.45pm today, 40yr old Mustafa Abdullah(Real name George Nwabuko) of Walsall, was
found guilty of the robbery and murder of Mervyn.
He has been sentenced to life imprisionment of which he must serve 25 years before any consideration
can be given to parole. Its unlikely he will ever be released......
13th May 2007.......
I now feel able to explain the circumstances surrounding my my Dad's death. My dad spent
Wednesday the 20th of October 2004, visiting me with his sister Joy (who sadly passed away 10 months
after Mervyn).
I spoke to my dad at 7pm when he got home from his visit.
The following morning i got a phone call to say my dad had been found dead in his garden and it
appeared he had been there all night.
The 1st pathologist said it looked as if my dad had fallen and had died as a result of his
injuries.
The police said they were treating his death as unexplained??
On the following Tuesday i attempted to notify my dads banks of his death i was told by the first
one that my dads account was empty!!!!! and had been used that day.
The other bank had the sense to spot it was not normal for my dad to withdraw such large amounts and
had stopped useage in total about £3000 had been taken from my dads accounts.
I contacted the local police, they told us to cancel my dads funeral and a 2nd pathologist carried
out more tests which came back unconclusive??
My dad's Funeral could be held,so it took place on the 9th November 2004.
It was in that week i was told by a Detective That my dad had NOT been Murdered !!! and i was a
"Drama Queen with an overactive imagination".
I won't name the Detective you know who you are....... In that week a new police team took
over thank goodness.
An arrest had already been made concerning the usage of my dads bankcards. The offender made a court
appearance charged with the card usage it was the first time i saw my dads killer......
In June 2005, the police took the step of exhuming my dads body for another pathogist to carry out
more tests.
This pathogist found that my dad had 28 separate injuries including skull fractures, broken ribs and
a shattered shoulder blade. My dad had been beaten to death with a Dumb bell Bar........
Thankfully enough evidence was found to charge the offender with the robbery and murder of my dad
and has you already know, he was convicted and sentenced in March 2007
Thanks to the hard work of the new police team, the 3rd pathlogist and The Barrister justice was
at last done..We will be forever grateful to them...........
I am so very sorry. I have just read your lovely tribute to your dad and think he looks such a nice kind gentle man. This world is so hard to understand sometimes with all the mindless needless violence. It seems that the good and kind folk are taken first. I hope though that you are able to find strength in your memories and even some that make you laugh. Our beloved son was also murdered and the pain is hard at times but our memories help us even make us laugh sometimes.
Rest in peace Mervyn
hi sonia,
sorry to use this page to get intouch with you, but i saw your name on violet bradfords site and you wernt quite sure what the outcome was.
I'm a friend of linda's and i'm sure she wont mind me telling you.
well the guy responsible has been sentenced to death by hanging.
The way that our government and the tunisian have handeled it has been crap and they only gave linda 3 days notice that the man was being sentenced, and with it being easter hols linda could not get over to see the man who murdered her mother and hear his sentence.
she is upset bout that.
anyway just thought i would let you know, as you have both had justice done in the last few weeks.
I truly hope that you are feeling pleased with the outcome of your dads case, at the end of the day you should be proud of yourself if it wasnt 4 people like you and linda there would be many more criminals on our streets.
I applaud you anyway sonia.
take good care and my heartfelt sympathys go out to you and all your family.
with love dawn. xx
THANKYOU SONIA

Thinking of you hun xxx
When you feel a gentle breeze
Caress you when you sigh
It's a hug sent from Heaven
From a loved one way up high.
If a soft and tender raindrop
Lands upon your nose
They've added a small kiss
As fragile as a rose.
If a song you hear fills you
With a feeling of sweet love
It's a hug sent from Heaven
From someone special up above.
If you awaken in the morning
To a bluebird's chirping song
It's music sent from Heaven
To cheer you all day long.
If tiny little snowflakes
Land upon your face
It's a hug sent from Heaven
Trimmed with Angel lace.
If you wake up and your lonely
and you don't know what to do
take comfort in remembering
Mervyn's watching over you
So keep the joy in your heart
If you're lonely my dear friend
Hugs that are sent from Heaven
A broken heart will mend.

a letter from heaven
TO my dearest family,
some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Prayers are with you
Mervyn was a kind, unassuming and gentle person who would quietly got on with life. When I remeber my visits to New Invention Methodist Church I always remember Mervyn - the two are inseperable. Our prayers and thoughts remain with you at this time.
A Fine Christian Man
It was a joy to know Mervyn. He genuinely cared about his friends, family and neighbors. He had a kind and gentle spirit. I made many happy visits to Mervyn and Margaret's home and was fascinated by the old lock and cabinet shop. When anything was needed at the chapel they were there. When the hall burned at the New Invention chapel Mervyn was there to help clean up the mess and begin the rebuilding process. Mervyn was a wonderful man and I still miss him.
To Sonia and Family. Thinking of You.
Just to say that I will be thinking of you for you as the trial progresses and praying you will have peace and strength through this very hard time.
